July 9, 2025 | Suzhou, China — Lishen Battery has officially opened its new cylindrical lithium-ion battery manufacturing base in Suzhou High-Tech Zone, with a total investment of ¥2.75 billion. The project includes five smart production lines, with two already in operation.

The new base focuses on high-performance cylindrical cells, including 18650, 21700, and 46-series formats. These products will serve markets such as power tools, e-bikes, smart devices, and energy storage systems.

Lishen said the Suzhou plant will eventually reach an annual capacity of 13.3 GWh. The current Phase II construction is advancing, with an additional 7.3 GWh line under commissioning.

“This is a key step in expanding our cylindrical battery business and accelerating product innovation,” the company said in a statement.

Founded in 1997, Lishen is one of China’s earliest lithium-ion battery manufacturers. Its total capacity across China has now reached over 31 GWh, with production bases in Tianjin, Qingdao, Suzhou, and other cities.

The Suzhou base is designed as a smart factory, combining automated production with R&D functions. It will help shorten development cycles for new battery models and improve product performance and efficiency.
