July 1, 2025 | Xiaogan, China – CORNEX New Energy has officially begun mass production of its 472 Ah energy-storage lithium-ion cell at its third manufacturing plant in Xiaogan, Hubei Province—marking a major milestone for large-format battery technology.
The 472 Ah cell is CORNEX’s fourth-generation energy-storage product, developed through a “technology reuse + shared capacity” strategy. It utilizes the existing 314 Ah production line framework, inheriting attributes such as high reliability, safety, consistency, and long cycle life, while taking energy per cell to 1,510.4 Wh (a 50% increase) and energy density to 195 Wh/kg.
A key highlight is its exceptional durability—benefiting from cathode pre-lithiation and high-temperature adaptations, the 472 Ah cell can endure 15,000 cycles at 35°C with negligible capacity loss. This capability aligns with reliability standards required for long-lasting photovoltaic storage systems.
CORNEX reports that the Xiaogan plant commenced production on June 30, and capacity ramp-up is already underway: each production line is projected to produce up to 10,000 cells per day, with full-speed output expected by late July. The company plans an annual capacity exceeding 80 GWh for the new cell series.
The battery was first introduced at the ESIE 2025 expo in April and later showcased at major clean‑energy events in Phoenix, USA, and Munich, Germany. In a standard 20-foot, 1,500 V container, the 472 Ah cell supports a 6.28 MWh system—expanding to 6.9 MWh, nearly a 40% improvement in energy density, with a footprint reduced by 20%. An upgraded 2,000 V platform could yield over 7 MWh per unit.
CORNEX is seizing momentum with a complete strategy for large‑scale production and global rollout. They reported signing strategic agreements during the product launch with partners like Goldwind, Tecloman, and others to deploy the 472 Ah cells in projects totalling multiple gigawatt-hours. Their cumulative effective capacity across bases in Xiaogan, Wuhan, and Yichang already exceeds 110 GWh, with ambitions to reach 350 GWh in the future.
CORNEX’s 472 Ah battery’s transition to mass production marks a significant leap forward in large-scale energy-storage solutions—offering higher energy density, greater durability, and more compact modules—fueling its position at the forefront of global energy-storage innovation.
